Our story pays homage to where we live, work and play – rich in history and present day. Years back, Jason discovered a number of unearthed prohibition-era moonshine bottles, rumoured to originate from an old hotel in the area that operated a still in the basement cellar. This discovery led to the timeless Sheringham glass bottle that we use today. Embossed in every bottle is our signature sailboat, reminiscent of “Favorite” – a historical handcrafted schooner that once sailed around the wild Salish sea. Our name, Sheringham, is borrowed from the original name of the humble Southern Vancouver Island town where our first distillery began. The town later changed its name to Shirley – to fit on a postage stamp when the first post office was built. As Sheringham grows, we stay true to our West Coast roots, sharing with the world a piece of our paradise. We’re inspired by our roots. A special piece of paradise that we are fortunate to call home, adorned in the rugged west coast island landscape. Sweet and salty Pacific ocean spray, to the fresh wildflowers along the shoreline, and a cool rainforest that is as refreshing as a seaside stroll – Sheringham is a true expression of island life on the west coast of Canada.
