Bibbiano is owned by the Marrochesi Marzi brothers, Tommaso and Federico, and is one of the oldest estates in Chianti Classico belonging to the same family.

Their philosophy is based on responsibility and consistency. Responsibility for the impact their actions have on their land, for their winegrowing region and unique wines; consistency in following one’s vocation while respecting the nature of the region and family traditions.

Bibbiano has been using the principles and methods of organic farming since the end of the 1980s. Only products with low environmental impact and organic fertilizers are used to allow the most natural ecosystem to exist. The estate also has a long-standing partnership with the University of Florence. Their ongoing studies have identified the best soil characteristics, exposures, altitudes, and cloning of Sangiovese Grosso vines. All of these processes support the family’s philosophy to carry on with traditions while respecting the terroir with minimal disruption to the natural environment.

The Marrochesi Marzi family has purposefully created a territory of authenticity, where not only the centuries-old quality standards of the grapes are respected, but only local wine-making methods of Chianti Classico are used. The family worked with legendary winemaker and Tuscan wine specialist Giulio Gambelli from 1942 to 2004. Since his passing Maurizio Castelli continues to maintain the family’s heritage.
