2010 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Blend : 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot, 2 % Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc

Winemaking + ageing process : The fruit for this vintage was selected from the best Silver Oak vineyards throughout the Napa Valley. These individual vineyard plots were fermented separately before being blended and placed in 100% new American oak sourced from Silver Oaks cooperage in early 2011. Blending prior to barreling allows the winemaker to achieve a balance of the wine’s natural elements, such as fruit and tannin. The wine was barrel aged for 24 months followed by another 20 months in bottle before it’s release. This time around, the 2010 is a library release meaning these bottles benefit from an additional 6 years of ageing in Silver Oaks perfectly tempered cellars. You can’t ask for better conditions.

Tasting notes : This 2010 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon expresses bright fresh fruit characters due to an unusually cool California vintage. It has a bright ruby colour. A complex nose of boysenberries, blueberries, sage, liquorice and roasted chicory. It has a luscious mouthfeel bursting with fresh fruit and carnation flowers. The tannins are fine-grained with a velvety texture that leads to a long fruit filled finish.

This vintage is drinking well now after it’s 11 years of ageing, with proper cellaring it will continue to evolve through 2031.
