2018 Napa Valley Red Hen Cabernet Sauvignon N 3

Blend: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon

Winemaking & Ageing Process: This cuvée is blended from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from four different blocks each with distinct characteristics, fermented together by native yeasts. The well-drained gravellt loam acts like a sponge, naturally pulling rainwater down from the neighbouring mountains and requiring little to no irrigation. This wine was aged for 19 months in 32% new French Oak (Taransaud, Sylvain, Orion & Bossuet).

Winemaker Bio: Diana Snowden Seysses graduated from the Viticulture & Enology program at UC Davis in 2001, then worked in both California and French cellars with Robert Mondavi Winery, Mumm Napa, the Araujo Estate, Château La Fleur de Boüard, Domaine Leflaive and Ramey Wine Cellars. By 2003, Diana had become enologist at Domaine Dujac in Burgundy, and consultant at Domaine de Triennes in Provence; in 2005 she became winemaker at Snowden Vineyards. Diana was nicknamed “Señorita Macho” at Davis for her enthusiasm for the physical challenges of winemaking. In her spare time, she b-girls to ‘90s hip-hop classics from A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, and Pete Rock & CL Smooth.

Tasting Notes & Analysis: This wine has a quiet gravity, poise and impressive length that comes in waves. The bright fresh fruit combined with silky weightless tannins are the hallmark of this benchland site.
